Athletic Trainer

Katie joined UCSF in 2017 after receiving her bachelors and master’s degrees in Athletic Training from San José State University. Katie has been the head athletic trainer at Galileo High School since she started at UCSF and has built a strong Sport Medicine Program at the school. She has a passion for her Sports Medicine Club where she educates and encourages students to pursue healthcare careers. Additionally, Katie has served for years on the PlaySafe Cardiac PPE Planning Committee and been instrumental in helping market the event to our partner schools and drive engagement and participation from the SFUSD.

At UCSF, Katie has been integral to the expansion of UCSF’s Orthopaedic services and network on the Peninsula through the Redwood Shores Clinic. Katie also serves as course co-chair for the UCSF Primary Care Sports Medicine Conference provided annually further highlighting her commitment to education. Since 2020, Katie has served on the CATA Secondary School Committee where she works with other athletic trainers to ensure the safety of our athletes and assists the legislative action team to push for athletic training Licensure in California.

Prior to her work at UCSF, Katie was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at San Francisco State University for two years working with women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's wrestling, and women's track and field.

When she is not working, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and going to baseball games.
